LOCATION
The Swan is the main landmark in the small village of Swan
Green on the outskirts of both Lyndhurst, the capital of the New
Forest and Emery Down, a village with plenty of local amenities.
Swan Green is very much a picturesque village with plenty of
attractive and outstanding thatched cottages as well as the local
cricket pitch where you can often catch a game in the summer
months. The pitch is also grazed by New Forest ponies, the fresh
young grass shoots proving irresistible for them.
The village of Swan Green is a Special Project and Conservation
Area in the New Forest National Park. Dating back to the 17th
Century there are six Grade II listed buildings in the village.
Although it is regarded by the New Forest National Park authority
as a small settlement Swan Green has a large triangular village
green and traditional boundaries like picket fencing and
hedgerows.
